Nope.. stand alone normally used without network connection while Web with network and internet connection
2.What are the differences?
Standalone application runs on personal computers and work stations, so when we test the desktop application we are
focusing on a specific environment. We will test complete application broadly in categories like GUI, functionality,
Load, and backend i.e. DB.
Web application is a bit different and complex to test as
tester don’t have that much control over the application. Application is loaded on the server whose location may or
may not be known and no exe is installed on the client machine, we have to test it on different web browsers. Web
applications are supposed to be tested on different browsers and OS platforms so broadly Web application is
tested mainly for browser compatibility and operating system compatibility, error handling, static pages, backend
testing and load testing.
3. When is the appropriate time to develop standalone applications or web-based application?
Normally standalone application was developed for individual purpose adn the installation only through single computer at one time. While web application normally used by multiple user to share the information and can be access by many user at one time..

For me, i prefer using web technology

We can have text, animation, graphic, sound, movie

Used authoring software like Dreamweaver or forntpage and insert the graphic to webpage ypu desire to insert the graphic

Same with the Q3, we need authoring software like Dreamweaver to insert our audio and video file into webpage.. Sometime user can used others third party to insert video such as youtube into our website or blog.. just embedded the code to our webpage. There are many file extension such as :mp4, mpeg, flv, and sound such mp3, wma and midi

Also used the authoring software like dreamwevaer, Some of the file extension is : *.fla, *.gif and *.swf

There are many software can be used to develop website like frontpage, dreamweaver, and even notepad. But i prefer to used Dreamweaver.
8. How to make your webpage interactive?
Interactive webpage come with balance text, image and video.. the best practice is used the standard text and combine with the graphic to support your explanation. and one more thing we can add some interesting video (maybe from youtube) to attract more people to visit our pages.

Learn more about design a good website and how to combine with the graphics and animation like flash.
